Richard Branson announced plans to stay on Necker Island, in the British Virgin Islands, during Hurricane Irma, even though by doing so he was risking death.
Why?
“Inc.” magazine contributing editor Jeff Haden speculates that is an addition to a sense of community, Branson’s decision to stay is a result of irrational optimism.
Scientists have shown that irrational optimism is a trait shared by many entrepreneurs, particularly serial entrepreneurs such as Branson. In fact, many believe irrational optimism is a necessary trait to succeed in business.
