Now these six social media content themes might be different for some people. You might not end up using all six, but starting off with them will help you find your sweet spot in terms of what your audience really likes, and what you’ll want to use consistently.
The great part of using pillars is that you can follow the same format each time. Once we incorporated this system into my business, it became SO much easier to create content for Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok! Identifying what people actually wanted more of vs. what they didn’t really care about became clearer.
Here are six themes you can use to create with:
Educate, or demonstrate
Educate people on what you can help them with, or demonstrate solutions you offer. (For example: healthy portions, how to identify quality skincare products, etc!)
Success Story
Stuff that gives you credibility. Pepper testimonials in to show what you’re capable of!
Funny / Entertaining
What makes you laugh? (This is my favorite category, and the type of post I’ve found my audience responds the most to! Definitely not mad about that, either. )
Your Personal Story
Share parts of your journey! It’s super important to know someone’s story before we decide whether we trust them.
Debunk a Common Myth
Challenge a false belief & explain why it’s incorrect. These can really catch attention with “hooks,” like “The way you’re creating content is all wrong.” “Is breakfast really the most important meal of the day?”
Inspirational
You might share things you do to be successful- whether it’s planning your day the night before, content batching, turning your phone off at night, etc! Teach people something that inspires them to take action.
The fun part of creating content is it can be anything you want. It’s important to test and see what your audience responds to!
Consider this, too: What do you ENJOY making? Let me tell you, creating it is much easier when you enjoy what you’re doing. Personally, I love making funny & entertaining reels.
If you told me I had to provide a personal story every single time, I’d probably quit them altogether because those are a lot of emotional effort for me, whereas a funny reel is easy and fast for me.
If this is something you can really use help with, I have a training called The Instagram Business Blueprint Workshop! To get access, just email me at [email protected] , or send me a DM on Instagram: @theashleyshaw.
I’d love to know your biggest takeaways from this episode, and what your favorite type of content is to create! Email or DM me and let me know!
