Having the intention to punish an employee, to prove a point to them, or to display power can have a negative impact on the employee or situation as it blocks us from having empathy or really listening to what the person has to say. As a leader, one must be goal-oriented and willing to collaborate with the employee in order to solve problems and be successful during performance reviews.
