A motivational website has an opinion piece comparing two types of motivation. External motivation arises from the desire to gain a reward. The writer noted as an example getting good grades in order to a bike from his parents. Internal motivation arises from an inner joy involved with the task. The author noted as an example an engineer who gave up his job to become a photographer, as it made him happy. The author asks the reader to look herself in the eye and ask what type of motivation she possesses.
