A motivational website has an opinion piece that compares two types of motivation. External motivation arises from the desire to gain some kind of reward. For example, getting good grades and getting a bike from your parents. Internal motivation arises from an inner joy involved with a task at hand. The author noted an example of an engineer who gave up his job to become a photographer, as it made him happy. The author asks us to look ourselves in the eye and ask what type of motivation we possess.
